After this, they were coated with a lime finish plaster, containing a selection of fine aggregates. At just the right time the plaster is trowelled to give a durable, highly polished finish….. No drywall was used in this installation……

Monday, September 28th, 2009Tadelakt is an ancient Moroccan style of plaster work. The word Tadelakt meaning ‘to caress’ applies to the steady compression of the plaster at just the right time using a semi precious stone and a dilute of olive soap.Without going into to much detail , during this process a reaction takes place between the free lime and the diluted soap giving the work a very durable, waterproof finish. This particular project was a full installation from base coats of lime and course sand, to my own special finish coat blend of specific finer aggregates, enabling a higher polished finish.
